That’s all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
This win moves Barca up to fifth in the table, five points behind Real Madrid at the top, but Barca have a game in hand. Next up is a trip to Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday, before returning to LaLiga action next weekend to face Atletico. Meanwhile Levante drop to 17th and remain without a win so far this season and they face Mallorca next time out.
Barcelona get back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Levante at Camp Nou. They led by two goals at the break, with Depay and De Jong scoring early on to get them off to the perfect start. It looked like it would end 2-0, as Fernandez was excellent in goal for the visitors, denying Depay on several occasions, before Fati wrapped up the three points in stoppage time, marking his return from injury with a goal.
90′ + 4′ FULL-TIME: BARCELONA 3-0 LEVANTE
90′ + 3′ The home fans have been very happy with their sides performance today, especially with the return of Fati, who will be a key man for Barca this season.
90′ + 1′ GOAL! Fati marks his return to the Barca side with a goal and makes it 3-0 in stoppage time! Barca counter quickly and Depay dummies the ball, which is picked up by Fati, who races forward from deep and then fires a low strike towards goal from the edge of the box, which Fernandez doesn’t see until late and he is unable to stop it from flying in.
90′ There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
88′ It doesn’t look like there are going to be any more goals in this one, with Barca comfortable with their 2-0 lead as we head into the final few minutes.
86′ Clerc is shown a yellow card after a foul on Demir in the middle of the pitch. No complaints about that one.
85′ Fati has added some pace and intent to the Barca attack since coming on, looking to mark his return to the side with a goal, after being out injured for so long.
83′ SAVE! Ter Stegen is called into action to deny Levante late on! Martinez slides the ball through to Cantero in the penalty box, who then beats Pique to it and Cantero gets a shot away. However, Ter Stegen is quick to race off his line and make the stop.
82′ Decent chance! Levante have their first opportunity at goal, after Morales manages to sneak in behind and get a shot away from the edge of the penalty area. However, he gets too much on the effort and it flies high over the Barca goal.
81′ The other Barca change sees Gavi head off after an excellent game in midfield and he has been replaced by Demir.
81′ De Jong also makes way and Fati is his replacement. The youngster is given a huge round of applause upon his return to the pitch, after 10 months out injured.
80′ Not too far away! De Jong powers a header towards goal, after he gets up above his marker, but the striker gets too much on the effort and it flies over the crossbar.
79′ Prior to this game Barcelona had only scored eight goals after their first five games this season in LaLiga, their lowest tally at this stage of the competition since the 2003/04 season (5).
77′ Another Levante substitution now, with Mustafi the man walking off and he has been replaced by Pier.
75′ Almost! Gavi races in behind the Levante defence after a good through ball by Mingueza and the midfielder tries to square it across goal to De Jong who would have a tap in from close range. However, Postigo gets across and makes an excellent block to turn it behind for a corner.
73′ Fernandez has been excellent in goal for Levante today, he couldn’t have done anything to prevent the Barca goals and has denied the hosts on numerous occasions with some terrific saves.
71′ There’s just under 20 minutes, plus any additional stoppage time added on left to play here. Can Barca turn all these chances into goals and extend their lead further?
69′ Another double change by the visitors, with De Frutos the first to head off the pitch and he has been replaced by Cantero.
67′ Blocked! Another opportunity in front of goal for Depay, but he takes too long to pick his spot and by the time he fires an effort, Levante get players back and make the block.
65′ CHANCE! Depay races through on goal, with only Fernandez to beat after he latches onto the end of a ball in behind the Levante defence. Depay drills a low effort at goal, but once again Fernandez is there to make the save and deny Barca.
64′ Barca work the ball into the final third really well, with quick one touch football, but take too long to get a shot away and Levante manage to clear the danger to the edge of the box. It falls to Nico, who powers an effort well wide.
61′ Barca aren’t playing with the same intensity as they did in the first half, almost playing as if the game is already won, but there is plenty of time left on the clock.
59′ Barca make their first change of the game now, with Coutinho the man coming off and he has been replaced by Puig.
58′ Pepelu is booked after he trips up Coutinho. The Levante midfielder isn’t happy with the decision though.
57′ Koeman has not lost in his three meetings vs Levante in LaLiga, one at the helm of Valencia and two for his current club, with two of those matches ended in draws (W1).
55′ Here comes a double substitution by the visitors, with Gomez one of those coming off and he has been replaced by Morales.
53′ Penalty shout! Gavi goes down in the box after he is barged into by Clerc, but the midfielder had already lost control of the ball and it was a bit soft. Nothing is given by the referee.
51′ Surely the visitors will need to start thinking about making some changes soon as they are still yet to do anything that suggests they can pull one back.
49′ CHANCE! Fernandez is once again called into action to deny Barca a third goal, after Depay unleashed a low strike towards the bottom left corner of the net from the edge of the box, but the keeper got down quickly to push it around the post.
48′ It’s been a bit of a slow start to the second period so far, with Levante enjoying a brief spell of possession in midfield, with Barca yet to get going.
46′ The second half is under way!
Barca have been in complete control of the game from start to finish and it will surely only be a matter of time before they extend their lead even further. Levante haven’t caused any problems at the other end, with Ter Stegen untested.
Barcelona appear to be heading back to winning ways as they have a two-goal lead at the break. Both goals came early on, with Depay winning an penalty and then converting it after six minutes, sending the keeper the wrong way, before De Jong doubled Barca’s lead on 14 minutes following a quick counter. They should have scored a few more, with Pique and Gavi going close, before Depay was superbly denied late on by Fernandez.
45′ HALF-TIME: BARCELONA 2-0 LEVANTE
43′ SAVE! What a chance for Depay to score his second of the game! Mingueza whips a superb cross in from the right wing and Depay meets it at the far post, powering a header towards goal. However, Fernandez makes an excellent save, tipping it over the crossbar.
42′ Levante are winless in their last 14 games in LaLiga (D7 L7), and are one away from equalling their worst-ever winless run in the competition, 15 games between 2017 and 2018 (D6 L9) – the 15 games prior to Paco Lopez’s arrival as manager.
40′ There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can Barca make it 3-0 before the half-time whistle?
38′ CHANCE! Gavi is released in behind and he races through on goal and only has the keeper to beat. However, he seems to get caught in two minds whether to pass to De Jong or try and go for goal himself. He opts for the latter, but his lob is poor and Fernandez manages to gather.
36′ ALMOST! Gavi plays an excellent through ball for Depay to sprint onto the end of and he then only has Fernandez to beat. However, his touch to round the keeper sends him too wide for a shot and Miramon gets back in the nick of time to put the ball out for a corner.
35′ Barca are piling on the pressure in the final third looking for a third goal before the break, but they just can’t quite make that final pass at the moment, in order to test Fernandez.
33′ Dest is almost playing like a left winger, he’s so far up the pitch as he hasn’t had any defending to do at the other end. The American is linking up very well with Depay down that flank.
31′ This is a bit better from Levante now, they are trying to keep the ball in midfield to relieve the pressure put on their defence. However, they are nowhere near the final third and Ter Stegen is yet to be tested.
29′ We’re almost at the half an hour mark now and it remains Barcelona who lead 2-0 thanks to a penalty from Depay early on and a De Jong strike on 14 minutes.
27′ Levante suffered their biggest ever LaLiga defeat at Camp Nou against Barcelona, a 7-0 defeat in August 2013 on Joaquín Caparros’ debut as coach of Levante in the competition.
25′ Depay sprints down the left wing and Postigo has to step across him and pull him back in order to stop him from getting any further. A blatant foul and booking for the Levante skipper.
24′ Gavi is the first player to be booked after his late challenge on Clerc. The booking is perhaps a tad harsh on the midfielder.
23′ CLOSE! Pique should make it three! The centre-back comes up for a corner, which is flicked on at the near post and Pique then tries to turn it into the back of the net from close range at the back post. However, he doesn’t get enough on the ball and it flies just wide of the post.
22′ Almost! Coutinho almost skips past a couple of Levante defenders to get through on goal, but Postigo manages to clear the danger in the nick of time and hand Barca a corner.
20′ A victory for Barca is key today, as they are already slipping behind their rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, but a win would move them to within five points and they’d have a game in hand.
18′ Levante have it all to do if they are going to get anything out of today’s game, but at the moment they can barely string a few passes together at the back, with Barca pressing high.
16′ Barca are without Ronald Koeman on the sidelines today, after he was dismissed late on last time out. However, they are coping well so far and look very good value for their 2-0 lead.
14′ Nearly all of Barca’s attacking play has come down the left wing so far and Dest has been key to that. The left-back sprinted forward from the back and stretched the Levante defennce, before passing to De Jong to his right, who made no mistakes with the finish.
14′ GOAL! Barca double their lead, De Jong scores his first goal for the club to make it 2-0! It’s a lovely counter by the hosts, who caught Levante out at the back with their pace and Dest does brilliantly down the left wing to pick out De Jong, who shows great composure to slot the ball past Fernandez and into the bottom left corner of the net.
12′ Levante (2) are one of four teams to have beaten Barcelona on more than one occasion in LaLiga since the start of the 2017/18 season alongside Real Madrid (3), Celta de Vigo (2) and Granada (2).
10′ Decent effort! Coutinho finds some time and space on the edge of the penalty area and lines up a shot at goal. However, his strike is too close to Fernandez, who makes a comfortable save.
9′ Barca are in complete control of the game at the moment, with Levante unable to get a touch of the ball and the hosts look very confident going forward. They will be keen to double their lead as quickly as they can.
7′ GOAL! Depay converts from the penalty spot to send Barcelona ahead after just seven minutes, it’s 1-0! Depay won the penalty after a clumsy challenge by Radoja and he coolly stepped up to take it, sending Fernandez the wrong way and firing the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
6′ BARCA PENALTY! Depay skips past Miramon down the left wing and Radoja then sticks out a leg as he races into the penalty area and the Barca man falls straight to the ground. There was clear contact and the referee immediately points to the spot.
4′ Roger tries to get onto a long ball over the top of the Barca defence, but Garcia gets across quickly and is unable to clear it high up the pitch, so has to kick it out of play in the final third.
2′ Barca get forward well down the left wing and Dest takes on Miramon, beats him and tries to pick out a teammate in the box with a cross. However, his cross is poor and flies out of play.
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Meanwhile the visitors have made six changes to their team, with Fernandez, Postigo, Clerc, Melero, De Frutos and Gomez all coming into the side and they have replaced Daniel Cardenas, Rober, Ruben Vezo, Martinez, Franquesa and Morales.
Frenkie De Jong is missing for Barca due to suspension, after receiving a straight red card against Cadiz, so he has been replaced by Nico Gonzalez in midfield. There are two other changes, with Garcia and Coutinho coming into the starting line-up, replacing Araujo and Demir.
